My unity day

20th August 2010
VERY hot day, walked down from headingly with my boyfriend and his housemate...the rest were all still in bed even though it was 12 already.
we hadn't even got the park in our sites yet but we could hear the music from the street. Sam told me that they have sound restriction but don't bother with them. there was already quite alot of people at the park. i was expecting to see one stage and thats it seeming as it was a free festival i wasn't expecting much, but there was loads. big lorry turned in to a dj set next to the skate park. Thats where most people were. Immediately bump in to some old friends.
Had a little wonder around and discovered more tents and dj sets...one power by bikes which people took in turn riding.I can now say i helped power unity day.
There were people juggling and and doing football tricks....it was almost like a circus. Everyone was so chilled out and a whole range of people were mixing from teens to familys with young children to the older ages. All with their own styles, everyone fitted in at this festival.
We began looking around all the little stalls. People were selling all sorts of things from home made buns to handmade jewelry. I was gutted i hadn't brought any money at all. i thought it was literally going to be one stage and thats it.
We then met up with friends and chilled out on the grass most of the day. Everyone talked to differnt groups and there was always something to watch. As it got darker it got a little colder and we ended up dancing in the reggae tent.
We had planned to go out after and thought we would make a quick stop at home first....unfortunately that ended up with a good night sleep, unity day had worn me out.
